Vote On CERF's Revised Mission Statement

Vote on CERF's Revised Mission Statement and Constitution Changes

The CERF Governing Board is proposing changes to our Mission Statement and Constitution to better align with our current values and strategic direction. But we can’t change the constitution without YOUR VOTE!

The proposed new Mission Statement is:

CERF’s mission is to advance science, knowledge, and stewardship of coasts and estuaries by fostering a diverse and inclusive community

We are also proposing minor changes to the Constitution so that the language in the Constitution better aligns with our new values, vision, and mission, and to allow the Affiliate Societies some flexibility on the title of the person who will represent them on the CERF Governing Board. The Board is proposing these changes based on extensive input and feedback from CERF members and the broader coastal and estuarine community.

We need 50% of CERF’s voting members to vote to change the CERF Constitution! That’s almost 600 people. In most society elections, CERF’s included, members tend not to bother to vote. For example, in 2021, fewer than 160 CERF members voted in the Governing Board election. But we can’t make this important change without your help!

Voting is quick and easy – log-in and submit your vote. And please encourage your fellow members to vote!

In appreciation, everyone voting will be entered in a drawing for a 1-year membership extension!

The voting deadline is 18 July. Thank you in advance for your support of CERF.

The voting period has now closed.
