Call for Late-Breaking Abstracts

CERF recognizes that coastal and estuarine science is a rapidly moving field and that new research results may arise after the initial deadline for submissions has passed. CERF also recognizes that for a variety of reasons, contributors may be unable to meet the original submission deadline and would still appreciate an opportunity to present their research. The CERF 2017 Scientific Program Committee invites you to submit a Late-Breaking Abstract for consideration for poster display at the CERF 2017 conference. The Federation is committed to bringing scientists and students from around the world together to exchange information and ideas about the science and management of coastal ecosystems. Our Federation conferences provide outstanding opportunities for professionals at all stages in their career for continuing education and development.

Please consider submitting an abstract that examines new findings within CERF’s traditional scientific, education and management disciplines and encourages interaction among coastal and estuarine scientists and managers.

Additionally, the Scientific Program Committee encourages abstracts that promote intellectually stimulating discussions of the Inflection Points in estuarine and coastal science including:

Successes in estuarine management and restoration
Urbanization in coastal and estuarine ecosystems
Understanding the context and impacts of aquaculture on estuarine ecosystem function
Insights from coupled natural-human systems research in estuaries
Science to support Ecosystem Based Management in estuaries and coasts
Estuarine and coastal habitats and landscapes - from community structure, dynamics and resilience to ecosystem function
Sustaining estuarine and coastal fisheries
Stormwater and agricultural BMPs - assessing their function and understanding their context in watersheds
Ecological theory to advance estuarine management
Innovations in engineering in and around estuaries

Lead authors of all Late-Breaking Poster abstracts will be notified of their acceptance prior to the Advance registration deadline. Because of the tight timeline for program inclusion of Late-Breaking Poster abstracts, editing of submitted abstracts will not be feasible. Lead authors will need to register for the Conference within the registration deadlines.

All policies and fees with respect to abstract cancellations also apply to Late-Breaking Poster lead authors, and authors should review these policies before submission.

Policies and Procedures for Submitting Abstracts

Late-Breaking Abstract submission opens on 7 August 2017.
The abstract submission deadline is 28 August 2017 11:59 PM PDT

Electronic submission: Abstracts should be submitted online via the CERF 2017 submission site. All abstracts must be received by the closing date noted above. Any abstracts received after the deadline may not be eligible for inclusion in the conference program.

Abstract Fee: All submissions must be accompanied by the abstract fee of $70 USD for submission. This is payable via credit card and is required to complete your submission. Please note that abstract fees are non-refundable. Submission of an abstract and payment of the abstract fee does not guarantee acceptance into the scientific program and does not imply commitment to attend CERF 2017. Please refer to the conference presenter cancellation policy for more details.

Guidelines: Please review the following guidelines and tips before submitting your abstract. If the guidelines are not followed, your paper will not be accepted.

TITLE: There is a limit of 15 words for the title. The title should be entered in sentence case (i.e., only the first word and proper nouns are capitalized).
STUDENT AWARDS: If you are a student, you can choose whether to have your presentation judged for the Student Awards.
RELEASE OF ABSTRACT: You must agree to the publication of your abstract in-conference related materials and on the website where it will be publicly available.
AUTHOR INFORMATION: Please enter all authors in the order they should appear in the heading of the abstract. Please provide institutional affiliations and contact information. There is a limit of 12 authors per abstract.
KEYWORDS: Select up to five keywords for your submission.
ABSTRACT: All abstracts must be in English and metric units are preferred. There is a limit of 2,000 characters for the text of your abstract. The character count includes spaces.
ABSTRACT FEE: Abstracts will not be accepted into the scientific program without payment. The CERF 2017 fee is $70 USD for online submission. Secure online payment through Stripe is available at the end of the submission process. Please note that abstract submission fees are non-refundable.

ONE abstract submission per person
Please note that the Federation has a one presentation per person policy. This means that each participant is permitted to be the lead author or presenter on only one poster, oral or Ignite presentation. You may be co-author on other presentations. This policy was adopted to ensure that Federation conference sessions contain contributions from as many people as possible.
