Family Friendliness
CERF 2017 is aiming to be the most family-friendly CERF conference yet. The Attendee Experience Committee is working to make the conference easier to navigate for nursing mothers and others with growing children. Here are a few example of the plans to assist this group of attendees.
- We will have a special room set up for pumping breast milk with amenities that only a pumping mother can truly appreciate, like a fridge with divided storage, and important supplies.
- We are planning an informal discussion table on "Work/Life Balance" as part of the Topical Brown-bag Lunch on Wednesday, Nov. 8. This will be an opportunity to talk with your fellow parents about the unique challenges of raising a family while managing your career.
-
The Family Friendliness Committee has identified an area daycare that offers drop-in care, Bright Horizons at RI Hospital . We strongly suggest you contact them ahead of time to ensure there is space available. The center is open Monday-Friday from 6:30 am - 6:00 pm, and is located 1.4 miles from the Convention Center.* You can also check with your hotel concierge for other childcare suggestions.
- Please note: Children are welcome at conference sessions/workshops, in the exhibit hall, poster sessions, and receptions (Sunday through Thursday evenings) provided they are accompanied at all times by registered adult attendees. Please keep in mind that alcohol will be served at evening events. Parents are asked to show consideration to the presenters and other attendees by being proactive to avoid disruptions of the scientific program.
- If you have any questions or suggestions to improve your experience as a parent at CERF, please contact Sara Grady ([email protected]).
* CERF has undertaken reasonable efforts to provide references to an appropriate daycare resource; however, parents should conduct proper due diligence in choosing a sitting/daycare service for their children.
